Experienced Wellsite Geologist
The job is on a consultancy basis. Candidates should be based in Western Canada, able to legally work in Canada and willing to work in remote areas.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for wellsite geological supervision in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, including:
- Drill cuttings samples preparation, description and interpretation;
- Mudlogging supervision (total gas supervision and maintenance or chromatography supervision and interpretation);
- MWD and LWD supervision, on-site geo steering;
- Directional wellpath supervision using drill cuttings, MWD/LWD parameters, gas readings, offsetting information;
- Wireline logging supervision and interpretation.
- Coring supervision, testing supervision and interpretation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Geology;
- Industry certification/training (WHIMS, H2S Alive, First Aid);
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence or equivalent;
- Minimum 4 years experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin;
- Experience with clastic and/or carbonate lithology;
- Familiar with all drilling rig operations;
- Thorough experience with horizontal and deviated wells;
- Good computer skills, including striplog software and Office suite;
- Experience in the Cardium, Viking and/or Montney resource play is an asset;
- Experience in shale gas/liquids resource plays is an asset;
- Experience in SAGD wells is an asset;
- Experience in Deep Basin or Peace River Arch is an asset;
